Akita Kiss

I was working with a friend when I was attacked by the homeowner's akita. The dog lunged and bit me in the face.

My cheek was laid wide open (my wife described it as looking like a butterflied filet mignon). I didn't know that he bit me at first. Then I started spitting blood. The dog's teeth had put 2 holes inside my mouth. When I saw my face in the rear view mirror of the van my friend drove, I knew it was bad. I was holding my dirty work shirt on the bite while he drove me to the hospial. My plastic surgeon says that he lost count of the stiches it took to close my face.

That was last year, I'm doing ok now, the scar is pretty subdued. On that day, cats went up a point in my book.

----End E-Mail----

ED: Gonna let one little incident turn you into a cat person, huh? Fair enough. But you didn't know he bit you? Did you think he was kissing you? I've heard of tough love, but when I get kissed and start spitting blood, I use my safe word and get the hell out of there.

Anyway, check out number ten on this Top Ten Dogs That Bite List. That's right, the Akita. Native Japanese dog, bred to hunt bear. For crying out loud, if you're gonna have guys working in the house at least have the common courtesy to tie up the 'swift, agile, unswervingly tenacious', bear-hunting dog that you decided would be a good family pet, asshat.
