this is wonderful...and totally appropriate, cuz i mean no ones dead. your not showing photos of mangled dead people. these people are alive and willing to show off their horrible wounds. they are making the best of their situation, and in the process entertaining me. good work.

To kelly, the reason why some people take pictures of wounds and submit to here is that others might be intrested on medical grounds. I took my pictures (of a leg ulceration) for a weblog of how I felt and how they healed over a period of time. It was *my* choice to submit them, why shouldnt I?

First and foremost,This isnt a time for this:'Poking at celebrtiy Presidents of the NRA",your Quote:"Before you get all freaked out, this was a long time ago, 21 years to be exact. Before the days of school shootings and celebrity NRA Presidents.".is,First and foremost INNANE,and secondly nonsensical, the NRA had MANY,Presidents who were "celebrity's",Namely;Joe Foss,A CMOH DECORATED WW2 Veteran,And Charlton Heston,IS NOT A BAD GUY,He MARCHED in the 60's With Martin Luther King, and PRO INCLUSIVE RACIAL GROUPS,HE QUIT THE DNC,BECAUSE OF THEIR RACE BAITING,and is generally a STAND UP GUY.Now Go back to doing what you do best,POSTING WOUNDS!!!!. AND KEEP YOUR TRAP ZIPPED ABOUT,AMERICAN GUN RIGHTS,You KNOW NOT, ABOUT WHAT YOU SPEAK.and This DUMASS,SHOT HIMSELF BECAUSE HE FORGOT RULE NUMBER ONE;"Ever gun is loaded,no matter what..it is LOADED,treat it as such",He deserved to live...sure,but,that was sheer and utter STUPIDITY,You DO NOT "FIRE" a GUN INTO YOURSELF,TO DECIDE IT'S STATE OF SAFETY,And FRANKLY,I'm not all that happy to hear he's got a carry permit,he's inherently dangerous. the gun isnt,HE IS!!!!!!

Awsome site. I'm going to see if I can get the operating room picture from the time I put my arm through a window and peeled back a two and a half inch triangle of skin. It totally severed my nerve cells, and I couldn't feel anything except a slight burning sensation. The emergency care guys couldn't fix it, so they sent me to a plastic surgeon. There's only that one picture, sadly. The wound became infected later and part of the re-sewn triangle turned black and dissolved, and I wish I'd gotten a picture of that. It's mostly healed now, left a big scar on my forearm. There was a freckle on the edge of the cut, and it ran over a little onto the scar. It's neat.

I found this site about a year too late. Had I known about it sooner, I would've submitted a nice wound I received while playing football. I slid on the grass with my left leg down, and just underneath the surface was a large rock. The resultant speed of the slide and the rock left a nice combination abrasion/burn roughly the entire length of my calf. Not wanting to look like a sissy, I kept playing, scrape/burn and all, caked with mud and grass. When I got home and showered, the pain really started to kick in. It was intense, but I had to clean the wound. The soap burned, the hydrogen peroxide bubbled for what seemed like hours, and little did I know that even after all that things weren't 100% clean. I went about my day and a few days later I noticed the pain had become even more intense and it became difficult to put any pressure on that leg unless I wanted searing pain to shoot up my calf. I showed the wound to a co-worker who smacked me across the forehead and said, "Are you stupid? That thing is infected." "Oh my! I didn't even notice." Seriously, I didn't. When I looked down at my leg, my calf was red, swollen, and hot to the touch. I didn't even notice that my shoe was much tighter since the pain from the wound block and sensation in my foot. I called my doctor instantly, who then put me on antibiotics 4 times a day for 2 weeks and told me to keep my leg elevated. I forget what they were, but she told me they were specifically made for this type of infection. In a nutshell, she said that dirty lymph had started collecting in my leg and kept any natural healing process from transporting the dead cells away. Over the next few weeks my leg got better, my foot swelling went down, but the dressing was still a painful process. No matter what material I used to cover the wound, no matter ointment, the wound would weep and the resultant mess would end up sticking to the dressing. When I got home at night, I would always end up taking a chunk of scab off with the dressing, thus starting a new round of bleeding/weeping. I always monitored the healing process, and the pictures, especially the ones right after dressing removal, would have been perfect for this site. A year later, I'm left with a large, patchy scar about 6 inches long and 3 inches wide, but it looks more like a dirty leg than a scar. Great site. I hope to get injured soon so I can chronicle my wounds for you. :)

Hi, I'm the one who sent the WAR photos... I thought I might add that, after telling my hooch mates of assisting in the thumb amputation, the corpsman who's bunk was just accross the partition from me woke with a startle, finding a human finger tied on a string just above his face.. I was of course blamed for it but was inocent because the diget was an index finger, not a thumb.... Always time for levity.. Roger

We are still working on the series about accidents that can happen to you. I would be very interested in getting in contact with the person who posted the eggroll burn story. We would really like to include the picture of the injury in our series. I would be very grateful if you let me know if we can use it at all. Thank you very much for your co-operation. Hello, My name is Charlie Inman and I work for Bullseye tv. We're doing a programme at the moment called world of pain, in which we tell the stories of people who have injured themselves in ways we can get across pictorially. I would therefore be delighted to ge5t in touch with some of your contributors, especially the guy who burnt himself doing the roast pig, and the guy who cut off the end of his finger. Anyone else who has a delightful story to tell (with pictures/video), is more than welcome to mail me. I'll look forward to hearing from you soon. Thanks Charlie

I like the site, the whole idea behind it. It's not really like rotten.com because of the "real, first-person" commentary with all the photos... and knowing they healed kinda takes the edge off. Maybe if you're hurtin' for content you can set up a stupid poll of injury victims to rate their favorite painkillers. Being an avid narcotics hobbyist, I would read that. I really feel for those finger injuries. They hurt more than serious breaks, etc., yet nobody feels for you because they're "so small." I have been unlucky enough to burn my fingertips a few times, and I know how you could easily stay awake (in pain) for weeks because of it. Oh well. Good luck getting new content. I always carry a camera in my car, so if I ever get my hand slammed in the door or caught in the tape deck or something, i'll keep ya in mind. Peace

This site shows great promise. I especially like the idea of the healing rate. This is very positive and believe it or not I believe to be also VERY educational. I mean it's great for people who were injured and wonder if they will ever recover. This could appease their minds. You should also devise a healing rate scale that way it could give a ballpark figure on "ok I got a similar injury, how long am I out?" Anyways keep up the good work!! Just those few pictures show just how the human body can take and how it can dish it back too! PW

Your site is cool. If you were around a couple years ago, I would have been able to send you a great picture of my injury. I had severe impetigo on my foot

I just came to your site from ogrish.com...and a very interesting site it is. It's a little like when you and your friends get together after a vicious day of dirtbiking and show your worst sandrashes...but its like a couple thousand friends...and the rashes are nastier. Anyways, keep up the (good?) work and as I am an avid dirt rider and general hellraiser...I'm sure I'll have some good submissions for you soon...

Interesting concept boys - I like it ! The site could do with some 'prettying up' work on the main interfaces - but hey, its a labour of love and I know you'll get there as time permits (and those paypal donations start rolling in :-)

I have photos of a friend who got his hand caught in a printing press, and wound up getting three fingers amputated. He's cool with it, I'm the one who took the pics, and they're truly disturbing. Hope you got a strong stomach, cause they're on the way

SlumLord: This site is brand new. Sunday 5/12/2002 was the first day it saw any traffic at all. Trowshep: You're right, it definitely appeals to some of us. I especially like to see how the thing heals. We are gonna need picture submissions to keep this site going...I have one more set from a dog bite, but my friends are only going to get hurt so many times in the weeks to come.

This is nasty, and yet it appeals to the very human desire to see other wounded humans. And this is the second time I've been here; I must have a LOT of morbid curiousity...
