Humorous News

Hello, welcome to Show Me Your Wound. This site is based on user submissions of wounds incurred during adventures in everyday life. If you already have concerns please read the disclaimer
07/13/2006- Hmmm, this site died a sudden death, didn't it?

06/20/2004- Just moved the site to a new server...if you see this page instead of some blasted "Internal Server Error" then you are looking at the new server. Now all I need to do is update and it would be just like a real internet web site thingy. This week, I promise.

05/04/2004- This is just a note to tell you about an important vote. The CBC (Canadian Broadcast Corporation) is taking nominations for "The Greatest Canadian." If you know anything about Canada (and I don't, I'm just going on what I've learned on 'Kids in the Hall') you know that Canada's strength lies not in its heroes but in its citizenry. To choose a hockey player or singer or politician as The Greatest Canadian is to dismiss the dependability, courage and tenacity of the common Canadian that is what defines that nation.

So in honor of the Canadian everyman, we humbly demand that you cast your vote for Mark Baese who stands in proxy for all good Canadians everywhere. The nominations end in mid-May so vote now and vote often! Please take a moment to visit Mark's website or click here to cast your nomination now.

05/03/2003- On the wound page you'll find a new external fixator, and the man attached to it. Find out (once again) why mountain biking is thrilling.

04/27/2004- How did a toenail get ripped up? Read about it on the wound page. Updates three weeks in row? I know, I'm tired just thinking about it. Just kidding, check back for more and more.

04/20/2004- New wound posted on the wound page. Know what happens when you cut open a pipe full of Drano? No, I didn't eiteher, but now we do. And you are glad it hasn't happened to you, take my word. No, don't take my word, go see for yourself!

04/10/2004- Welcome World of Pain viewers! I wanted to get a bunch of new stuff posted before you started coming, but I'm completey lame and the time snuck up on me.

If this is your first time here definitely check out the wound page, that's where all the stories and pictures are. If you have a wound you'd like to submit check out the What We Want page. It's a good summary of what the site is all about and what we want and don't want in terms of submissions. Anyway, some new content will be posted within the next few days, so don't forget to bookmark us and come on back from time to time and check on the healing.

Oh, by the way, I haven't seen the show, so send me some feedback on our segement (sharky@showmeyourwound.com), thanks.

11/24/2003- Three months off, wouldn't you like this job? So, we're back again from yet another extended break. There are a ton of wounds lined up for your medi-tainment, but why don't we start with a very well documented case of horse play? You will find it on the wound page. Enjoy, comment, submit...you remember how we do things around here, don't you?

...Awkward three-month silence...

08/26/2003- Fresh wounds! Get your fresh wounds here! And of course, send in your wounds, big and small, we collect your wounds and tell their stories. If you're confused about how the site is run and what we want check out the page cleverly entitled What We Want. It should clear up some of the confusion and perhaps cause a whole lot more. Enjoy!

08/03/2003- New wound available on the wounds page (of course). Not the goriest wound ever, but it sure does sound painful.

07/25/2003- There we go...two more small wounds posted. I feel better already. Actually updating again, sweet.

07/25/2003- No wounds yet, I hope to get one or two posted tonight.

This note, however, is to tell you about a friend of ShowMeYourWound who will be participating in the third annual Blog-a-thon tomorrow (07/26/2003). The Blog-a-thon is a 24 hour event in which bloggers post every 30 minutes to raise money for charity. You can sponsor a site by the hour or for a flat rate.

Our pal and yours, Joe Peacock at Mentally Incontinent has decided to participate by writing a novel in 24 hours. That's right, he's going to post installments to a novel every 30 minutes, AS HE WRITES IT!

The charity Joe has chosen is the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund (CBLDF), a non-profit organization helping to protect the first amendment rights of the comic industry. Even if you're not into comics, you are still having your first amendment rights defended by the CBLDF.

Visit the Blog-a-thon homepage or click here to sponsor Joe. You can actually sponsor him through Monday 7/28/2003, but why delay?

07/20/2003- Sick and tired of waiting for new wounds? I don't blame you. I'm sick and tired of not posting new wounds, and this week we are going to get unsick and untired together? Deal? First up is one I've been promising the submitter that I'd post for about 4 weeks now. He named it FrankenFoot, and I kept the name, because, well, it's clever. And I need all the help I can get. I plan to post at least 2 more this week, then we'll see if I actually get back on schedule and post regularly.

I've enjoyed hearing from you guys, and thanks for checking on me and the site while there was a break. I emailed some of you back and told you I was working on something else that was taking most of my spare time. Here's the scoop. As some of you know, I also run US Press (http://news.unclesharky.com, which has also been idle for about a month) which is a news satire site. In the last month or so I've been working on HumorFeed.com which is a place where news satire websites can post their headlines and readers can go to read many good articles every day. You can also add HumorFeed headlines to your website (if you have one). You'll see an example of this on the right side of most ShowMeYourWound Pages. HumorFeed has a daily newsletter that sends the headlines from the contributing sites to your inbox. That's been the big project and I hope you guys enjoy that also.
